Key Features of the Pop-A-Shot Elite Software Update (Version 2.2.0)

Spin Cycle – A Brand-New Game Mode

The new update introduces Spin Cycle, an exciting new game mode that puts a fresh spin on classic arcade basketball. This feature adds dynamic gameplay elements that shake up the traditional experience and keep players coming back for more.

***The ‘Player’ icon is shown at the bottom of the screen when Multiplayer is enabled.

How Spin Cycle Works:

  • This mode rewards scoring accuracy—the point value centered in the shooting square at the moment of your shot becomes your score. It's a skill-based approach that makes every shot count.
  •  As players sink shots, the wheel speed increases, ramping up the challenge and intensity with each successful basket.
  •  Jackpot shots award high bonus points.
  • Spin Cycle gameplay and scores are kept separate from player profile stats, letting players enjoy the mode without affecting their official records.

This high-speed, high-reward mode keeps players engaged and encourages repeat play making it perfect for busy venues with lots of foot traffic.

Expanded Game Modes Control

Operators can easily turn game modes on or off through the settings menu, giving you full control over which games are available on your machine.

Access game mode controls by going to Main Menu, then Game Settings, then Game Modes—simple navigation to customize your machine's gameplay options.

When additional modes are activated:

  • A Game Mode Selection screen appears.
  • Players can use arrow buttons to navigate between available modes.

This gives arcade owners the freedom to tailor gameplay to match their venue's style or special event requirements.

Turn-Based Multiplayer Mode

The new software update introduces the Turn-Based Multiplayer mode, allowing up to four players to compete head-to-head on a single machine. When Multiplayer is enabled, a “Player” icon appears at the bottom of the screen. If disabled, the machine defaults to single-player mode.

Key Features:

  •  Player Selection screen
  •  Lobby screen for participant setup
  •  Elite profile scanning
  • Ability to add credits for extra players
  •   Adjustable timeout settings for player selection and lobby screens

Turn on multiplayer by navigating to Main Menu, then Game Settings, then Multiplayer—quick access to activate head-to-head gameplay.

Customize how long players have between turns by going to the Main Menu, then Game Settings, then Timeout Length adjust the pace to fit your venue.

Multiplayer capability significantly increases revenue potential by encouraging group participation.

Player Achievements System

Another feature from the new update includes a player achievement system where gamers unlock badges displayed on the Game Over screen and in their Elite web app profile. Nine new achievements are available to earn, giving players extra goals to chase.

These achievements include:

  •           Half Century Club – Score 50+ points
  •           Three Quarters Club – Score 75+ points
  •       Century Club – Score 100+ points
  •       Buck Fifty Club – Score 150+ points
  •       Bicentennial Club – Score 200+ points
  •       Get Toasty – 10+ consecutive shots
  •       Heatin’ Up – 15+ consecutive shots
  •       En Fuego – 20+ consecutive shots
  •       Inferno – 25+ consecutive shots

Achievements keep players coming back to chase badges and compete with others, boosting loyalty and creating friendly rivalry in your arcade.

Collections & Revenue Reporting

One of the most important additions for operators is enhanced collections and revenue tracking. Once “Collect” is selected, all of the game’s statistics, other than “Uptime”, will reset on the “Statistics” page but will still be viewable on the ‘Collections’  section of the Admin Dashboard. The “Lifetime” page on the Elite will track the machine’s all-time statistics. Each time “Collect” is selected, a new report will be created in the Admin Dashboard.

On the Machine:

  • To Perform a Collection: Main Menu > Collect
  • View Statistics Since Last Collection: Main Menu > System Settings > Statistics

When “Collect” is selected:

  • All statistics reset except Uptime.
  •  A new report is generated in the Admin Dashboard
  •  Lifetime statistics continue tracking total performance.

Access your collection reports by navigating to Machines > Collections in the Admin Dashboard. There are available actions that can be done in the Admin Dashboard when you access Collection.

  •  View all collection reports
  • Select multiple collection reports via checkboxes
  • Export selected collection reports to .CSV
  • Remove selected collections
  • Click any collection entry to view details

Important Time Zone Notes:

  •   Collection times on the Elite display in Coordinated Universal Time(UTC.
  • Admin Dashboard times are shown in Pacific Standard Time(PST).

This makes financial tracking easier and gives you honest, straightforward data about your machine's performance and income.

Software Updates Using USB Drive

Pop-A-Shot Elite now lets you update firmware directly through USB, cutting down maintenance time and simplifying the process.

Step-by-step guidance walks you through downloading and installing the latest software;

Get the latest software from your Admin Dashboard by going to Assets, selecting Software, and clicking Download.

USB Drive Preparation Requirements: Format your USB drive as FAT32, unzip the downloaded file, and follow the included README.txt instructions to complete the preparation process.

Updating the Software using the USB Drive

Copy both the .apk and .json files directly onto your empty FAT32 USB drive. Note: Do NOT copy the folder itself.

Insert the USB into the leftmost USB port (closest to the HDMI port).

Access Main Menu, find Updates, select Update from USB, and press "Start" to initiate the download. The game will automatically restart when the update is complete.

This USB Drive update method minimizes machine downtime and removes the complexity from software upgrades.

Built-In Diagnostics Menu

The new update (Version 2.2.0) includes built-in diagnostic tools that let operators test hardware components without calling in a technician. You can run shot sensor tests, credit pulse input checks, button input tests, and QR reader diagnostics all from the machine's system menu.

These quick self-tests help you identify problems fast, troubleshoot issues on the spot, and reduce expensive service calls. Keep your machine running smoothly with instant hardware verification.

Advanced Ball Gate Control

The update gives you full control over your ball gate through Main Menu > System Settings > Ball Gate. You can Enable, disable, or lock the gate open for continuous play.

This is especially useful during tournaments, promotional events, or when handling high player volume.

Additional Enhancements

The update features a redesigned settings menu, fresh system animations, and smoother interface navigation.

These improvements give the game a modern look and feel that players will enjoy.
